I have the rare and wonderful opportunity to spend two years living in England. As a consequence, I find that I look at my new world through my US eyes and see things that just amaze me. The layers of living in my new country are numerous. Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age impressions on the land combine with prehistoric stone circles dotting the countryside. It all fascinates me.

I believe we view the world through the eyes we had as a child. Urban, suburban, country; our impressions and how we view the world are set early in life. From those first impressions we continue to view the world through a prism uniquely our own.

I’ve had many talks with my UK printmaking friends and, universally, we find that this is true. I actually see things in my UK life that they do not. My UK prints are an attempt to convey the beauty and wonder of these life layers over time on the land in the United Kingdom. They are my maps, my wonderment, and more.
